The fifth hardest wood in the Timber tones range with a Janka hardness rating of 2990 lbf.
This wood has many uses including Cabinet Making, Carvings, Drum Sticks, Office furniture, Organ pipes, Violins and other musical instruments.
The wood is obtained from the Brosimum Rubescens tree found in Brazul, French Guiana, guyana and Suriname.

Interesting Facts:
Otherwise knows as Satine, the trees grow to between 80 - 150ft with a trunk diameter of 4 - 7ft.
Bloodwood is highly decorative and as such is used for many applications where aesthetic beauty are important.
Although the wood is generally highly patterned in shades of red and orange it can darken over to a brown with exposure to light and air.
Although Bloodwood has a lower Janka number than Macassar and Sonokeling it has a much closer grain and as such polishes smooth giving very similar tonal characteristics to Ebony. As such Bloodwood is highly recommended for Electric Guitar.
